Since 2021 Kate has not only maintained what existed, but has brought what had been at risk of becoming an incoherent and dull garden to life. I hoped to learn from watching and working along with Kate, and she has embraced the role of mentor gardener with great patience, giving advice and making suggestions when asked for or needed, as well as doing the basic maintenance work quickly and effectively.
She has added new plants as beds have been opened up or extended, rescued poorly plants, and ensured that what we have thrives.
Best parts? The neglected Wisteria that now blooms gloriously over a red brick wall and archway and fills the air with its scent. Or the pond and narrow beech hedge I would never have managed to dig and plant on my own. Or the pots of tulips that became so much more beautiful as they were arranged with artistry in the kitchen yard. Or the new beauty of the views my aging parents now have from the windows. I was fortunate to be introduced to Katie in 2021 as she was starting out. I needed someone with knowledge to help make my garden more interesting and colourful, which she has certainly achieved. Katie has pruned various shrubs including my apple tree which has helped them look fresher each season, and has using mulch on my flower beds to help the soil and keep the weeds at bay. She has an ethical approach to gardening.

Katie initially started doing some garden maintenance for us, potting up some shrubs and flowers for our front patio and then carefully choosing some plants for our back garden. When we purchased a piece of waste land beside our house, I knew Katie would be the perfect person to transform it. It was on a slight incline, running the length of our house. Katie worked with us over a few years to design the best use of the space and slowly plant it up using bare root trees and shrubs to help us spread the cost. The garden is looking beautiful and so many passers by have stopped to comment on how lovely it is.
We feel very lucky to have Katie design and maintain our garden. I know nothing about gardening or plants and due to poor health, I can’t manage it myself anymore. Katie has created a lovely space that I can enjoy looking out on, whenever I am in my house.

Working with Kate is an absolute joy. I have limited imagination when it comes to gardening and she consistently and proactively proposes innovative and creative ideas for my outside space; adding colour and interest that sustains throughout the year. She has the knack of knowing what plants will work best in a given season added to which her rates are highly competitive.

Katie has transformed our yard into a garden! I thought the hens would defeat her, but she’s on the winning side. We’ve also had our most productive fruit crop thanks to Katie’s pruning of the apple and pear trees. The garden has become a refuge and an entertaining space like never before. Katie did an excellent job with my small but very unruly front garden. I had unwieldy, but beautiful old roses and a carpet of weeds, which were always difficult to deal with while navigating the roses in a small space. I wanted to be able to enjoy my front garden and keep the roses, but get rid of the weeding.
Katie came up with a great plan, which offered me options. I thought I might have to stone all around the roses, but Katie gave me great ideas for full ground cover, which she could maintain a couple of times a year. I am delighted with it and makes me smile when I come home.
