About Katie Brown
With a strong design background, including a degree in Textile and Fashion Design, along with experience in interior design, I bring a distinct perspective to garden design.
My love for colour and texture shines through in the planting plans and gardens I create for my clients. I nurtured and developed my natural love of gardening and plants from my Grandfather, George. Now, I aim to help you rediscover the joy and love in your own garden.
Plants and wildlife are paramount in the way I work. I work in harmony with nature, aiming to bring out the best in each unique space. I always use peat free composts and mulches. I never use pesticides or herbicides, allowing nature to create a balanced, ecological environment.
A career change in 2019 allowed me to train for my RHS qualifications at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh. Simultaneously I worked alongside the “Keeper of the Landscape” at Juniper Artland for two years. I was involved in all aspects of the land management within the public grounds and also the care and maintenance of the private family garden of Bonnington House. I expanded my practical knowledge, plantsmanship and experience working alongside other experienced gardeners and volunteers.
I continue to learn through my work and varied, continuous training courses through the Society of Garden & Landscape Designers. At the same time, I am also finishing my Diploma in Garden Design with The British Academy of Garden Design.
I offer garden design in Edinburgh, planting plans, on-going maintenance packages and design consultations. For more information about how I work, read about my planting plans and how I garden sustainably.
